Donald Glover joins Spider-Man: Homecoming

Donald Glover has joined the cast of ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’.
Variety reports that the 32-year-old actor – who previously starred in ‘The Martian’ and ‘Magic Mike XXL’ – has signed up for an undisclosed role in the reboot, which stars Tom Holland as the titular superhero and Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man.
In February 2015, Marvel Entertainment, Sony Pictures and The Walt Disney Company announced an historic deal to share rights to Peter Parker and his arachnid-powered alter ego with Spider-Man making his first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in ‘Captain America: Civil War’.
Tom Rothman – Chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment’s Motion Picture Group – previously teased fans with an insight into the story, which is being kept heavily under wraps.
He said: "Homecoming obviously is a high school reference. This movie shows the enduring conflicts at Peter Parker’s roots, saving the world and getting your algebra homework done on time. More than that, for Sony, the film is a homecoming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It’s something we and all the fans are giddy about."
The new standalone ‘Spider-Man’ movie – directed by Jon Watts – is set to hit cinemas on July 7, 2017, featuring Marisa Tomei as Aunt May and Zendaya as Michelle.
And Chris Evans recently revealed he wants Captain America to make an appearance in the new film or in the upcoming ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ sequel.
He said: "Guardians’ would be fun wouldn’t it? I mean, but that’s very outer spacey. Cap’s more of an earthbound guy. Maybe the next ‘Spider-Man’ [movie]. You know those are going to be fantastic and I think Tom’s such a great actor so that might be a fun one to pop up in."
