Duane ‘Dog’ Chapman reflected on the past few months as he marked his first Thanksgiving without his wife, Beth Chapman.
The ‘Dog the Bounty Hunter’ star lost his wife to throat cancer earlier this year but despite his own heartache, he took to Instagram to wish his followers a happy holiday.
The 66-year-old told People magazine that he would be in charge of cooking the turkey for his family, something that has "freaked out" his children.
He joked: "I hope there’s a guide on YouTube! … Several family members are coming for the meal and my children are all freaked out because I’m cooking. The daughters will be bringing other dishes to go with the turkey. We always realise what the day of Thanksgiving means, so we can talk about the main thing we are thankful for.
"We also have an award we give out, which is called the Butthole of the Turkey award and it goes to the most difficult child of the previous year."
Duane revealed that his son Garry would be receiving the award this year.
Meanwhile, the ‘Dog’s Most Wanted’ star previously confessed he is determined to carry on with his career, despite his wife’s death.
He said: "I will never, ever be the same emotionally, because there’s a huge piece of my heart that isn’t there anymore. But I have to remain Dad and the dog."
In September, Duane learned that he was suffering from a "life-threatening" pulmonary embolism and had to seek treatment, even though he is wary of doctors and hospitals.
He shared: "I hesitated for a minute thinking, I don’t want to have to go through this again. I don’t want to die right now. I’m not afraid to die anymore, but I really didn’t care for a while if something would happen. I do care now."
