Derek Hough doesn’t feel any pressure to get married.
The ‘World of Dance’ star has been dating Hayley Erbert since 2015, but despite their longstanding romance, the professional dancer isn’t in any rush to get down on one knee and ask Hayley to marry him, as he’s focused on "the next stage" in his life right now – building them a home.
When asked if he was feeling pressure to marry, he said: "You know, it’s funny. Nobody ever asks me this. Do I feel pressured getting married? No, you know what, I don’t, actually. I’m building a house right now. I feel like I’ve been building it for 25 years now. It’s taken a long time, so for me, I’m looking at things in stages, and for me, that’s going to be the next stage."
But the two-time Emmy Award-winning choreographer, 33, hasn’t ruled out the idea completely, as he admits the pair are waiting to see where life takes them.
He added: "So, I can get settled, physically grounded, physically settled. And then who knows where life takes us."
Although they may not be ready to tie the knot just yet, Derek isn’t shy when it comes to gushing over his beau, whom he praised for being "really grounded".
Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight’, he said: "She’s really grounded. She’s really, really grounded – just really down to earth, and just [has] a good heart and a beautiful soul."
The comments come after Derek’s sister Julianne Hough tied the knot with her husband Brooks Laich last year, and Derek praised her spouse for helping her to reach the "best version" of herself.
He said: "[Laich] is just a great guy. I said to him, ‘I’ve known Julianne my entire life. I’ve seen every phase she’s gone through.’
"I’ve seen all the different versions of herself trying to figure out who she is and by far this is the best version of her and it’s because of him. He’s definitely brought it of her. I’m so happy for them."
