Denzel Washington says he collects wisdom

Denzel Washington collects "wisdom" from his life experiences.
The 61-year-old actor – who can next be seen alongside Chris Pratt, Byung-Hun Lee, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Ethan Hawke in the Sony Pictures and MGM’s remake of ‘The Magnificent Seven’ – thinks it is important to always remember the advice he has been given over the years.
And in an interview with Collider.com, Washinton has revealed what he spends his lifetime collecting.
He said: "I keep collecting different things…Wisdom.
"You know, ‘Fall down seven times get up eight’, ‘People who never fail are people who never try’. ‘You have to master your anger you can’t let anger be your master’…’In order to get something you never had you have to do something you never did’."
The actor also reflected on how he views life now he’s older and wiser.
He said: "The most interesting thing to me is doing five lines without lifting the pencil and some people don’t get it, you have to go outside the box in order to connect them without lifting it so it’s thinking outside the box. I don’t know if you get older and wiser when you get older but you start to trim away the nonsense and you see what works over time."
The ‘Training Day’ star also shared some words of wisdom of his own, claiming that people should to want to make a difference to the lives of others.
He said: "You pick a side – you can be as people most of your life but you’ve gotta sit out at some point and look in the mirror.
"You can’t be that person, or maybe you’re afraid of that person, what am I doing, am I helping or am I hurting? Am I lifting people up or am I knocking people down?
"Don’t just aspire to make a living, aspire to make a difference…As long as you get up one more time than you get down then you can fight, fight another day."
‘The Magnificent Seven’ is centered on seven outlaws who come together to protect a small town. It also features Martin Sensmeier, Matt Bomer, Haley Bennett and Peter Sarsgaard in the star-studded line up.
