Denise Welch’s son is set to join ‘Coronation Street’.
The 58-year-old actress – who previously starred in the long-running soap as barmaid Natalie Barnes – escorted her 15-year-old son Louis to the show’s studio in Manchester last week as he auditioned for an unknown role on the soap.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Denise and Louis took a road trip up to Manchester in her Mini last week where he was seen by the show’s bosses for a new role.
"Louis felt his audition went really well and ever since their trip Denise just hasn’t been able to stop chatting about her son joining the soap. It’s a really big deal for Denise as obviously Corrie is a big part of her life having been on it between 1997 and 2000 … It’s still not a done deal. But Louis felt like he gave it his all and is crossing everything."
And Louis is no stranger to acting as he’s previously starred in ‘Scott & Bailey’ alongside Suranne Jones in 2011.
However, he hasn’t just picked up his acting talent from his mother, as his father Tom Healy – known for playing Lesley in ‘Benidorm’ – also starred in ‘Coronation Street’ over a decade ago as plumber Paul Jones.
Meanwhile, Louis’ audition for the soap goes hand-in-hand with new boss Kate Oates’ plans to add extra cast members to help take the strain off the originals following ITV’s recent decision to air an extra episode a week on the channel.
