Denise Welch’s "party animal" husband has saved her life.
The 58-year-old actress has admitted that her marriage to Lincoln Townley, 43, could have been a "disaster", but he actually helped her beat the booze once and for all.
Speaking to Hello! magazine, Denise said: "We were party animals, two people in a mess, when we first met. My marriage was in freefall and I was drinking too much.
"Being with Lincoln could have been the most explosive disaster, but it went the opposite way. We’ve been each other’s anchor."
The blonde star tied the knot with Lincoln in 2013, a year after she split with her first husband Tim Healy, with whom she has two grown-up sons Matt, 27, and Louis, 15, following 24 years of marriage – and believe they encourage each other to stay positive.
Speaking about his marriage to the former ‘Loose Women’ panellist, Lincoln said: "We encouraged one another to pursue what matters most. As a couple we have positive energy constantly flowing through us. I’ve never met or loved anyone as much as I love Denise. "
The news of the couple’s renewed lease on life comes after Lincoln forged a new career as an artist to some of the biggest names in Hollywood, including Gary Oldman, Al Pacino, and even Sir Michael Caine.
And, after painting a portrait of Michael’s wife Shakira, the pair were even invited for tea at the couple’s residence.
Recalling the event, Denise said: "The portrait of Michael was already on the wall, but Shakira wanted to place her picture next to his above the fireplace. Watching Lincoln and Michael hanging the two pictures was surreal."
