Denise Welch’s husband is playing her younger lover in a new isolation YouTube series.
The 61-year-old actress stars in her pal Julie Graham’s new project ‘Dun Breedin’, which follows a number of women of different ages as they deal with the menopause and Denise revealed her husband, artist Lincoln Townley, 47, is starring in the series with her.
Speaking to Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby on ‘This Morning’, Denise explained: "Three weeks ago, my friend and actress Julie Graham reached out to me and said ‘I’ve been developing this script, way before [the Covid-19] lockdown, and now it’s happened, I’ve been encouraged by my producers to see what we can do’.
"Basically, in a nutshell, myself, Julie, Tamzin Outhwaite, Alison Newman, Tracy Ann Oberman and Angela Griffin star in a series about women of a certain age, all at different stages of menopause.
"All the sweating, all the chaos, all the wetting your knickers-ness, all the laughter, all the camaraderie that goes on and basically we are ‘Dun Breedin’ as it says on the tin.
"It’s groundbreaking, because we are filming it in lockdown but it’s not about lockdown. So we are using the people that are locked down with us. In my case, Lincoln is not only my director of photography, but he is also playing my younger lover."
Denise went on to reveal how some of her co-stars are using their family members in the project.
She said: "You’ve got Angela Griffin whose daughter is playing her daughter, Jason her husband is in it, you’ve got Julie’s daughters in it, we’re all using our own gang.
"So people will be getting to see our real homes. We film twice a week, there are 12 10 minute episodes and it starts today (30.04.20) at 3pm on YouTube. And, who knew, Lincoln, the only person who goes into lockdown as an artist and comes out as an actor."
