Denise Welch has to contact her rocker son through his management.
The ‘EastEnders’ star is thrilled her son Matthew Healy’s band The 1975 are selling out arenas around the world but she has admitted his success sometimes means she can’t get hold of him for a while.
Speaking on ‘Good Morning Britain’ on Thursday (07.07.16), she said: "When he sells out the O2 [Arena] in three hours, I’m like, "I can’t believe you came out of me! I text him and don’t get much back. I phone his security Mark and find out what they’re doing."
The 58-year-old star – who comes from Tynemouth in Tyne & Wear – has spent a large proportion of this year in Los Angeles while her son focuses on his career and is now considering a permanent move stateside with her husband of two years Lincoln Townley.
She explained: "I love being in LA. My husband’s art is going well. My son is in LA a lot as well. I miss him so much. I have lost him to this world. He told me I’m turning into the mother from the ‘Sopranos’: ‘You don’t call, you don’t come over!’ "
And now that she’s planning to move closer to her offspring, whom she has with her ex-husband Tim Healy, Denise believes it may have opened up her chances of landing a role in the new ‘James Bond’ movie.
She said with a giggle: "I’ll be the new Bond Nanna!"
Denise also has 15-year-old son Louis from her past marriage.
