Denise Black is set to make an explosive return to ‘Coronation Street’.
The 59-year-old veteran actress hasn’t graced the cobbles for over a decade but viewers are in for a shock over the next coming weeks as she’s confirmed she’ll reprise her role as Denise Osbourne – a part she played for four years – in the soap.
The legendary star set tongues wagging earlier this week when she was spotted full of smiles as she walked onto the set, based in Manchester, with a script in her hand.
Details of her return are being kept tightly under wraps for the time being but it’s thought it will weave nicely into the attempted murder storyline involving Ken Barlow.
The loveable grandfather – portrayed by Bill Roache – was dramatically pushed down the stairs last week in a dramatic whodunnit but, now that Denise’s arrival has been confirmed, viewers are speculating that she may be behind the awful crime.
Denise and Ken certainly have history as they have son Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard), who turned up in Weatherfield over the festive season, together.
It’s not yet known how long Denise will will spend in the long-running soap but bosses also approached her in 2007 when her hairdresser alter ego made a brief return.
Denise’s new job comes just weeks after she left rival soap ‘Emmerdale’ as Joanie Wright when she was killed off just months after she destroyed Zak (Steve Halliwell) and Lisa Dingle’s (Jane Cox) relationship by having an affair with the farmer.
