Dean Andrews helps his ‘Emmerdale’ co-star Jay Kontzle understand "certain words" in the script thanks to his father’s background as a poet.
Jay, 30 – who plays Billy Fletcher on the ITV soap – admitted he often runs through scenes with the 57-year-old actor, who portrays Will Taylor, and believes the ‘Ashes to Ashes’ star’s dad’s job led to him having a great way with words.
He said: "Dean Andrews always helps me understand certain words.
"His dad was a poet, so he has a great background for that.
"We often run through scenes together."
Jay has also been helped out by several other co-stars during his time in the Dales, including Danny Miller (Aaron Dingle).
He said: "Danny Miller is one of my good mates. When I first started he was brilliant for things like organising scripts – I picked up a lot of stuff from him."
And Jay admitted he often watches Jeff Hordley’s (Cain Dingle) performances to try to pick up acting tips.
Speaking to Inside Soap magazine, he added: "I’ve learnt a lot from working with Jeff Hordley – he’s a great person to be on set with.
"He’s someone that I can take little ideas from about performances."
And Jay may have called on Dean’s help again during the coronavirus lockdown, as the star revealed in April he had been writing film scripts while the ‘Emmerdale’ stars were all stuck at home.
He said: "I’ve been home-schooling, producing music and writing films!
"It’s important to keep creative and keep your brain active."
