Davina McCall confirms The Masked Singer filming

Davina McCall has confirmed ‘The Masked Singer’ will start filming in the autumn.

The 52-year-old TV presenter – who judges the show with Jonathan Ross, Rita Ora and Ken Jeong – revealed the hidden identity singing competition is returning to TV screens as ITV bosses have scheduled to film series two in the next three or four months.

On her podcast ‘Making The Cut’, she said of the show: "It’s coming back! We are going to start filming in September or October."

The judging panel and host, Joel Dommett, were left in the dark about the show’s future as the coronavirus pandemic halted production, and filming was rumoured to have been pushed back to October.

While the judges have now been given the green light, Davina is still unsure if an audience will be able to join the panellists in the studio.

But after Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced plans for the two-metre social distancing rule to be reduced to just one metre, Davina is hopeful fans will be allowed to gather in the next few months.

She said: "The audience situation will be easier with a one-metre rule.

"But things are changing so rapidly now with the easing that September is a lifetime away. It may well be that social distancing has gone out the window by that point."

The news comes after Joel revealed ITV bosses were planning a second series and were in the midst of creating the rules to adhere to social distancing.

He recently said: "There is going to be another series, I’m so excited that I’m now allowed to tell people."
