David Walliams says discussions about a ‘Little Britain’ return are ongoing and he is "sure" he will work with Matt Lucas again "very soon".
The pair recently reunited for a one-off Brexit-themed special called ‘Little Brexit’, and he has dropped further hints that they could bring back the BBC sitcom.
When asked if ‘Little Britain’ will be back on our screens soon, David exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "I hope so, we’re just talking about it, we’re not sure what we want to do but it was great working together again and I’m sure we will again very soon."
David was at the premiere of his and Robbie Williams’ new musical ‘The Boy In The Dress’ – based on his book of the same name – at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon last night (28.11.19), and he hopes adults will enjoy the production just as much as youngsters.
Speaking at the premiere, he added: "I just hope people have a great night at the theatre, there’s lots of jokes in the show but also lots of moving parts too, and I think it’s a genuine family experience in that I sometimes take my son to shows and I see the mums and dads zoned out, either looking at their phones or nodding off.
"Although the book was aimed at kids, I think this show will also be loved as much by grown-ups.
"I think when you watch it as a grown up you start to think about your own childhood, your relationship with your parents, your school days and other stuff.
"The show has had an amazing response so far in previews and tonight’s the opening and I can’t wait for people to see it."
The heart-warming musical includes new songs from Robbie – who has kids Teddy, seven, Charlton, five, and 14-month-old Colette – and the singer admits he was "sort of nervous" about how his tunes would work on the stage, but is looking forward to his children seeing the production.
He said: "I didn’t know what to expect when I went to the rehearsals, I was sort of nervous but then I just relaxed into the whole thing, it was just incredibly overwhelming that it was working, I’ve never experienced that before and [tonight] I’m going to experience it with a bunch of strangers.
"I’m excited and slightly daunted but I’m looking forward to my children seeing it.
"They’re old enough to really experience the theatre now and I’m excited about that mostly."
