David Beckham had movie nights with Cruise

David Beckham used to have movie nights with Tom Cruise.

The 38-year-old hunk recently moved back to England with his wife Victoria and their children, Brooklyn, 14, Romeo, 11, Cruz, eight, and two-year-old daughter Harper, but when he lived in Los Angeles he would go round to the actor’s house and chill out in front of the television.

He said: "When we were living in LA, Tom cruise lived two minutes away. He’s a good friend. There were occasions when I’d call him up and ask him if he had a new movie that wasn’t out yet, and I’d go round and watch it with him."

The retired soccer star – who attended the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding in 2011 – has also met Prime Minister David Cameron on a number of occasions, but doesn’t think they have a close enough friendship to invite himself round to his house for dinner just yet.

He explained to the Sunday Times magazine: "I’ve met the prime minister quite a few times. He’s a really nice guy, but I’m not sure I could go and invite myself to Number 10 [Downing Street] in the same way. I love living back in London; it’s where I was born. But, of course, I haven’t lived here for a long time because I was only 15 when I moved up to Manchester."
