Danny Miller struggled with distancing on Emmerdale set

‘Emmerdale’ star Danny Miller struggled with distancing himself from the crew when he returned to filming.

The 29-year-old actor – who plays Aaron Dingle on the soap – recently returned to the ITV studio to resume production with his co-star and the rest of the team, but didn’t realise how difficult it would be to act without breaking the two metre distancing rule set by the government.

Asked what the main differences are, he said: "First and foremost, it’s the distance. We’re having to abide by new rules that have been put in place.

"Believe it or not it’s a lot more difficult for us to do the everyday work. On top of that we’re in charge of cleaning and looking after our own props."

He also realised how close he gets with the director and how he relies on their guidance whilst shooting his scenes.

He told ITV’s ‘Good Morning Britain’ on Wednesday (10.06.20): "The difference between television is unsaid because you don’t realise how close you get to the director, showing you the scripts.

"There is people put in place to be there and ensure we didn’t get carried away and suddenly end up face-to-face. It was difficult, it was a lot different."

Danny was one of the first cast members back on set after the lockdown with co-star Jeff Hordley – who plays Cain Dingle – and claimed the pair were used as "guinea pigs" for the rest of the crew to return for filming.

He said: "Jeff and I were used as guinea pigs. We were the first [cast] to do the shoot under the new guideline. It was very nervous at the time, given the fact you want to abide by the rules for your own help but having to look after an extra 20 people who are also your responsibility to make sure they’re kept safe."
