Danny Miller was left "in tears" after a guy pledged £2,600 to his charity.
The ‘Emmerdale’ star revealed this week he is to take part in a 40-mile walk to raise money for Once Upon a Smile – which provides emotional and practical support for bereaved families – and he was shocked to see a huge donation.
He wrote on Twitter: I’m literally in tears. Andrew Manley, please make yourself known to me immediately. I owe you a social distance cuddle my friend. Wow!! THANK YOU (sic)"
Danny – who has played Aaron Dingle in ‘Emmerdale’ since 2008 – is to walk from Manchester to Liverpool FC’s stadium Anfield on 22nd July, and he is hoping to raise £5,000 for the cause.
He wrote on the fundraising page: "I have waited years to be there when Liverpool finally lift the Premier League and now I can’t even see that in person. But I’ll get as close as I can with the help and support from my beloved friends and followers.
"I want to combine two thinks I’ve had taken away from me during COVID-19 – which is the access to our fantastic charity HQ and my second love of my seat at Anfield. So I decided to add them together and try and earn some vital funds for my beloved charity and help us on the road back to some normality. (sic)"
Danny co-founded the charity with his friend and fellow actor Daniel Jillings in 2011, after they realised there was a lack of support for families following the death of a loved one.
Yesterday (08.07.20), Danny’s charity walk had gained more than 100 supporters who had donated more than £3,500 for the cause, and now partly thanks to Andrew the total is up to £8,398 at the time of writing – well over his target.
