Danny John-Jules set for Strictly Come Dancing

Danny John-Jules has been confirmed for ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The ‘Red Dwarf’ actor has been announced as the third celebrity contestant lined up for this year’s series of the BBC Latin and ballroom dance competition, after presenter Katie Piper and Steps singer Faye Tozer were revealed earlier on Monday (13.08.18).
In a statement, Danny said: "Having spent the last few months on two wheels motorcycling around South America in pink leathers, I’m absolutely delighted to be getting back on two feet and into something more comfortable like glittery spandex."
The 57-year-old actor starred as Cat in the sci-fi comedy series ‘Red Dwarf’, and was also known for his roles as policeman Dwayne Myers in BBC crime drama ‘Death in Paradise’, and as Barrington in the BBC comedy ‘Maid Marian and Her Merry Men’.
News of Danny’s involvement with ‘Strictly’ was revealed on BBC One’s ‘The One Show’ on Monday, when ‘Tragedy’ hitmaker Faye’s name was also announced.
Faye said: "Being on Strictly is literally a dream come true! It’s everything my nine year old self ever wanted from showbiz and I’m going to relish every moment!"
And this morning during BBC One’s ‘Breakfast’ show, it was revealed Katie Piper would also be a contestant on the popular dance programme.
She said: "I feel so privileged and excited to be part of my favourite show on TV. I already know how much of an amazing experience it will be for me and I can’t wait to show my girls some of my new dance moves.
"I’m nervous to put on my dancing shoes but can’t wait to learn a new skill and have the ‘Strictly’ tan and makeover!"
The BBC are to confirm the other celeb contestants in the coming weeks.
Several big names have been talked about as possibilities for this year’s quest to win the Glitterball Trophy, including Pussycat Dolls’ Ashley Roberts, and radio presenter Vick Hope.
Former England cricketer Graeme Swann has also been talked about as a potential celeb contestant in the upcoming series.
