‘Coronation Street’ star Daniel Brocklebank feels "excited" by Todd Grimshaw’s return to the cobbles.
The 40-year-old actor – who plays Billy Mayhew in the long-running soap – feels his character and Todd still have a lot of unfinished business.
Asked about Todd’s comeback, Daniel said: "I’m so excited! Todd was absolutely the love of Billy’s life, and it feels very unfinished from his point of view.
"Billy doesn’t know why Todd upped and left him in the first place, so I reckon that he’ll have a lot of questions for him."
Gareth Pierce has replaced Bruno Langley in the role of Todd, and Daniel thinks he’s the perfect candidate for the part.
He told Inside Soap magazine: "I screen-tested with the actors who were auditioning to play Todd, and they were all great, although there was something special about Gareth.
"When we read together, the dialogue was flying off the page – there was something very Todd about his performance! When the bosses told me that Gareth had got the job, I was absolutely thrilled, and I can’t wait to start filming with him."
Meanwhile, Gareth recently admitted he’s looking forward to his new role in ‘Coronation Street’, saying he has "some really exciting storylines" on the horizon.
The actor – whose character will be seen back on the cobbles in the autumn – said: "I’m thrilled to be joining such an iconic show, and to have been entrusted with taking Todd forward into some really exciting storylines.
"It’s an honour to be part of the dedicated ‘Coronation Street’ team in such unprecedented times."
The character originally left the long-running soap after he assaulted a police officer and was said to have "gone on the run".
