Daniel Brocklebank and Rob Mallard find the reaction to their relationship "odd".
The ‘Coronation Street’ stars are amazed by the attention their romance has garnered since they went public but are "thankful" the reception to their relationship has been positive.
Daniel said: "[It’s] odd. I’ve never had anything like that printed about my personal life in the press before, so it was a very strange thing to have to deal with but we knew it was going to happen and thankfully the reception was very, very warm indeed."
Whilst Rob added to HuffPost UK: "We weren’t sure what to do with it at all really because it’s not a story, it’s just single gay man meets other single gay man at work, starts relationship. There’s not anything there but absolutely, the responses that we got from people you don’t know, saying nice things about you. That can’t be bad, can it?"
The pair’s romance was revealed when Daniel – who plays vicar Billy Mayhew in the soap – and Rob, who stars as Ken Barlow’s son Daniel Osbourne, attended the LGBT Awards together in London last month.
A source said at the time: "Daniel was instantly attracted to Rob when he joined the cast. They got on really well and quickly developed feelings for each other.
"The cast love having them together at social occasions and there is definitely real chemistry there. They both know that people will be interested in what is going on, but they don’t mind."
Since their relationship went public, Daniel has been sharing a string of posts and pictures of his boyfriend on social media.
Captioning a group photo with Rob and their mums, he wrote: "Me, my man & our mums! #SoapAwards (sic)"
