Dani Harmer ‘can’t wait’ to reprise Tracy Beaker

Dani Harmer "can’t wait" to reprise the role of Tracy Beaker.

The 31-year-old actress is set to return to the role that made her famous, in ‘My Mum Tracy Beaker’, and TV executives are now casting for a young actress to play her 12-year-old daughter.

Dani – who also previously appeared on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ – told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: "I can’t wait to return again to the role of Tracy.

"I’m a fan myself and want to know what happens next and where this journey takes her. Being a mother, I know how much it changes you.

"So I’m looking forward to seeing how it has changed Tracy but still keeping her the same feisty, strong female lead that people know and love."

Dani first starred on ‘The Story of Tracy Beaker’ in 2002, and she previously admitted she still gets stopped in the street by people who actually think she’s the fictional character.

However, Dani isn’t bothered about the attention she receives from fans because it proves they did "a great job" on the show.

The actress – who reprised the role for ‘Tracy Beaker Returns’ between 2010 and 2012 – said: "I do have the odd occasion where people actually think I am Tracey Beaker in real life and the whole thing is real.

"And I just put it down to the fact that we really did a great job on that programme."
