Dani Dyer warns fans about online scams with makeup tutorial twist

Dani Dyer has warned her Instagram followers about online scams with a trick makeup tutorial twist for a new campaign.
The 23-year-old actress – who won ‘Love Island’ in 2018 with ex-boyfriend Jack Fincham – has teamed up with ‘The Only Way Is Essex’ star Lydia Bright for Santander’s ‘Get The Invisible Look’ campaign to make her fans aware of purchase scams.
She exclusively told BANG Showbiz: "It’s so easy to get sucked into scams online, especially when scrolling through social media – you see something that looks amazing and before you know it, you’re happily plugging your bank details in for the latest lashes or new make-up, only for them to never turn up. This has happened to friends of mine.
"My advice is only buy from reputable sites and don’t get lured in by the glossy pictures or false promises – if it’s too good to be true it probably is!"
The stars took to Instagram to post a video of a makeup tutorial where they appeared to apply their make-up until it became clear there was no product involved.
The bank branch decided to enlist the famous pair to help protect young people and educate consumers this festive season.
Chris Ainsley, Head of Fraud Strategy at Santander commented: "Purchase scams are some of the most common scams out there, last year costing UK consumers over £46 million, and the cost-conscious and online lifestyles of younger adults make them a prime target. Our own data shows 17-30 year olds are more than 80% more likely to fall victim to these scams, compared to 31-45 year olds."
Santander made it their mission this year to stop fraudsters from attacking innocent youngsters around Black Friday sales and the Christmas period.
Chris continued: "This time of the year in particular, provides rich pickings for fraudsters, with pressure on people to find the best deals and get ahead on their Christmas shopping.
"By doing something a bit different and teaming up with beauty influencers, we aim to raise the profile of purchase scams and grab people’s attention before they’re conned by the likes of ‘The Invisible Look.’ "
