Danny Dyer’s daughter Dani has been forced to quit ‘Survival of the Fittest’ after dislocating her shoulder on her first day.
The 21-year-old daughter of the ‘EastEnders’ star was taking part in the ITV2 reality show – which sees boys and girls go head to head in a series of challenges – when she slipped headfirst down a waterslide while filming a challenge, and dislocated her shoulder.
According to The Sun newspaper, Dani was treated on set at first before being whisked to hospital on Saturday (10.02.18) afternoon, just one day after setting foot in the South African wild.
A source told the publication: "It was a really nasty fall. Dani knew straight away she had done serious damage but tried to continue as she didn’t want to seem like a wuss. It was too much, though, and she was taken to hospital."
Unfortunately for Dani, because the show involves so many physical challenges, producers have said she will be unable to compete in the rest of the series.
The source added: "Due to the nature of the series, where the boys and girls battle tough physical challenges, as well as mental ones, the producers decided Dani would have to be replaced. It’s a shame for everyone because she was looking forward to taking part and ITV were chuffed to sign her."
ITV confirmed the news on Sunday (12.02.18) via a statement released by a spokesperson.
The statement read: "Dani injured her shoulder during the recording of a challenge. She was attended to by on site medics and taken to hospital as a precautionary measure. As ‘Survival Of The Fittest’ involves physical challenges which she wouldn’t be able to take part in, Dani isn’t in a position to be able to return to The Lodge and will therefore leave the show."
‘Survival of the Fittest’ will continue to air on Sundays at 9pm on ITV without Dani, where the two teams will battle it out for the chance to win £40,000.
