‘Dancing on Ice’ producers have banned the celebrities from over indulging over the festive season so that they’re in the best shape for the launch of the reboot next month.
The stars – including the likes of Kem Cetinay, Donna Air, Brooke Vincent and Antony Cotton – have been training for the competition for the past few weeks and bosses are hoping they don’t lose all the hard work they’ve put in so far by scoffing calorific treats.
A show insider told The Sun newspaper: "Everyone wants to make sure the huge return of ‘Dancing On Ice’ is super- slick, so they’re keen to ensure all the celebrities are fighting fit. They’ve had a word with all of them and told them to lay off the festive fun and all that comes with it so they’re fit for the launch. It’s mainly to make sure their professional dancers won’t feel the difference and have trouble lifting them when the new year comes around. It will also make sure injuries or drop-outs are avoided."
Although the pressure of the show is expected to reach a climax in a few weeks’ time when the programme actually goes to air, there have already been a number of injuries.
Matt Evers – who was a professional on the show before it was pulled off air three years ago – was left with a bloody gash on his arm after fellow skater Brianne Delcourt slashed him with her blades while they were training for the group dance last month.
Kem – who has just split from his girlfriend Amber Davies – also had to be seen to by paramedics recently when he fell on the rink and smashed his head on the ice.
He said recently: "I have had quite a few falls in training – I fell on the ice and cracked my head which was pretty scary but luckily I was checked and all OK."
‘Dancing on Ice’ will hit screens early next month and will see Jayne Torvill, Christopher Dean, Jason Gardiner and Ashloey Banjo sit on the judging panel.
Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield will present.
