Damon Albarn teams up with former rival Noel Gallagher on Gorillaz’ new music

Damon Albarn teamed up with Noel Gallagher for new Gorillaz track ‘We Got The Power’.
The former Britpop rivals worked together on the song for the band’s first album in six years, which will be titled ‘Humanz’, and Albarn gushed about how "great" Gallagher was in the studio when provide backing vocals for the song.
He said: "He’s really great. He’s fantastic in the studio, you know, and it’s nice when you see how someone goes about their business, you know, and he’s great … There wasn’t any ice to break, no."
Asked if he contributed to the record or just did as he was asked, he added: "Well, I mean … it’s not orders, it’s more like kind of this is, you know, we agreed that this was how we were going to approach it."
And Jehnny Beth from Savages also provides backing vocals for the track and Albarn was thrilled to have her on board.
Speaking on Thursday evening (23.03.17), he shared: "I felt at one point this song had Graham [Coxon], Noel and me on it and it was just sort of heading slightly in the wrong direction. It was becoming very, kind of, retro in its spirit and the record it’s sort of, it’s the song that comes on in the final titles of the film, you know? It’s that mood that you leave a cinema with …
"Jehnny would take a bit of testosterone out of the whole, sort of, middle aged [men] … [It was] a balance, a balance. And I think if you’re thinking something as strong as ‘We Got The Power’ it needs to be true, you know what I mean?"
Gorillaz’ Damon Albarn was speaking on the Radio X Evening Show with Gordon Smart, weekdays 7pm-10pm on Radio X. Tune in to Smart on Sunday with Gordon Smart this Sunday from 2pm on Radio X to hear more from Damon Albarn.
