Dame Shirley Bassey: I’d do another Bond theme

Dame Shirley Bassey would be "happy" to record another Bond theme.
The 80-year-old singing legend previously lent her vocals to three of the popular film franchise’s iconic themes, having famously sang ‘Goldfinger’ for the movie of the same name in 1964, ‘Diamonds Are Forever’ for the similarly titled 1971 feature, and ‘Moonraker’ for the 1979 feature.
However, Shirley has admitted she isn’t quite ready to leave the suave spy behind her, as she admits she would love to get back in the recording studio for another theme, should she be approached by studio bosses.
She said: "I have to be asked, of course, and perhaps there are other plans in place, but I like the James Bond films and I’d certainly be happy to do another one."
Shirley admits she was "delighted" with the success of her ‘Goldfinger’ theme, but admits she can’t help but notice the mistakes in her recording of ‘Moonraker’.
Speaking to the Daily Star Sunday newspaper, she added: "I was delighted [‘Goldfinger’] became so popular and people still want to hear it.
"[With ‘Moonraker’] there were a couple of notes not quite right in the recording. Every time I hear it, I notice it."
However, Shirley might have to wait a little while before she gets the chance to show of her vocals for another Bond movie, as current lead actor Daniel Craig, 49, is reportedly hoping bosses will secure indie band Car Seat Headrest to perform the theme for the upcoming 25th instalment.
A source said recently: "Daniel is a big music fan and loves Car Seat Headrest. Part of signing on for more Bond was more involvement in all aspects of production, including the theme song.
"Daniel was instrumental in getting Adele to sing ‘Skyfall’ and suggested Radiohead for ‘Spectre’ too, whose song did not get used in the end."
