Daisy May Cooper has told fans there will be a ‘This Country’ Christmas special "at some point in the next couple of years".
The BBC sitcom came to an end last month after three series, but Daisy – who stars in the mockumentary alongside her brother and co-writer Charlie Cooper – has admitted the pair have already had a thought about doing a "12 days of Christmas" festive special.
She said: "I think we’ll do a Christmas special at some point in the next couple of years, for sure.
"We were thinking of a 12 days of Christmas, spreading it out.
"But that’s very early days.
"I’d love to see what the Mucklowe family Christmas is like and how many there are. They’re a shady bunch."
If Daisy’s character Kerry Mucklowe was about during the current coronavirus crisis, the actress joked her alter-ego would only be "unhappy" that ‘Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway’ has axed its live studio audience due to social distancing guidelines.
Speaking to Gaby Roslin during an Instagram live chat, she added: "The only thing she’d [Kerry] be unhappy with is ‘Ant & Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway’ not having an audience."
Daisy’s comments come after the 34-year-old star admitted that, despite the success of ‘This Country’, she is now "absolutely skint" after splurging her cash on candles and ASOS deliveries.
She said: "We’re absolutely f*****g skint at the moment.
"I’ve got £150 in my bank. The problem was, when it happened, I didn’t put any money aside and I absolutely spunked it up the wall on crap like candles and ASOS deliveries and then my husband was like, ‘Where’s the money aside for tax?’ and I was like, ‘What money?’
"And ever since then, I’ve been having to pay it back!"
Daisy’s brother and co-star Charlie – who plays Kerry’s cousin Lee ‘Kurtan’ Mucklowe in the series – believes the pair would be "rolling in it" if the show had come out when DVD sales were in their prime.
He said: "People see you on TV and they assume you’re absolutely rolling in it.
"The thing is, we’ve missed the boat on DVDs. If this was fifteen years ago, we’d be f****g rolling in it!"
