Daisy Lowe was "meant to have curves."
The 27-year-old model – who began her modelling career at the age of 15 after being signed to Select Model Management in 2004 – believes she was born to have a curvaceous body and admits she didn’t like her appearance when she weighed almost eight stone when she was younger.
Speaking about her body shape, she said: "When I was 19 and I split up from my first boyfriend [Will Cameron], I was so devastated I lost two stone. I was eight and a half stone, I went from a D-cup to an A-cup and my legs were sticks. I worked non-stop that year, but I didn’t like it. I didn’t feel like myself. I’m meant to have curves.
"I hate those labels. You don’t say, ‘white model’ or ‘skinny model’. Why should ‘plus size’ models have a label? They all sell clothes, that’s the job. I’m definitely a feminist. Women should be happy with their bodies."
The brunette beauty – who has modelled for luxury designer brands including Agent Provocateur, Burberry and Ben Sherman – is often told she has a "sexy body" but her clumsiness doesn’t leave her feeling sexy.
She explained: "I’m told by designers I have a sexy body and I accept that, but I never feel sexy. I’m far too clumsy to be properly sexy, I’m always falling over."
Although Daisy – who is the daughter of Pearl Lowe and Gavin Rossdale – used to try to live up to the sexy title, she prefers to dress more classy now because she believes classic styles epitomise sexiness.
She told Grazia magazine: "I used to dress sexily but I’m trying to be a bit more of a lady now – like Katherine Hepburn or Julianne Moore. I love those beautiful classic styles, my favourite designers are Saint Laurent, Christoper Kane, FRAME and Paige Denim. I think ladylike is very sexy."
