Cyndi Lauper to donate cash from North Carolina show to LGBT charity

Cyndi Lauper will donate all proceedings from upcoming show in North Carolina to charity.
The 62-year-old singer and LGBT activist is set to turn her concert into an "entire" day performance and will give the profits from the concert on June 4 in Raleigh, America, to Equality North Carolina, which is the largest LGBT rights and equality group in North Carolina.
Speaking about her forthcoming concert, the ‘Girls Just Want To Have Fun’ hitmaker said: "I think the best way I can do my part is to turn my show into an entire day to build public support to repeal HB2."
Despite other performers such as Bruce Springsteen and Ringo Starr who have cancelled their shows over the anti-gay "bathroom law" that decides what toilet a transgender person can us, the New York-born vocalist decided against following suit.
Cyndi explained her decision to remain in the show and extend it, she said: "Wherever there’s a shutout, wherever there’s people who don’t accept other people, the other people need you."
Former Beatles’ drummer Ringo opted not to play his planned gig on June 18 at the Koka Booth Amphitheater, and his pull out followed Springsteen who axed his gig in Greensboro.
In a statement Ringo said: "I’m sorry to disappoint my fans in the area, but we need to take a stand against this hatred. Spread peace and love. This law opens the door to discrimination everywhere by limiting anti-discrimination laws against people based on their sexual orientation or gender identity."
