Curtis Pritchard’s mum sometimes writes things down to help with his dyslexia.
The former ‘Love Island’ star has opened up about his struggle with the condition – which can affect reading, writing and spelling – and he admitted he has learned to "focus" on his strengths, while turning to his family for help.
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’, he said: "My family have always supported me in a massive way… Everyone in life has strengths and weaknesses. My weakness is being dyslexic, slightly.
"I focus on my strengths a little bit more sometimes and I know I can speak quite well so I turn everything in my speaking.
"So, I don’t have to write everything down. I will go ‘Mum, can you write this down instead of me, you can write it faster or spell it a bit faster.’ "
The 23-year-old dancer explained how his ballroom career has also given him a fantastic outlet to concentrate on his talents, and he insisted children should get lessons "from a young age" because of the important skills they would learn.
He added: "It teaches discipline, respect, hard work – it is hard work, and ballet is one of the hardest forms of dance. I think kids should dance from a young age. It teaches you respect, it teaches you a new skill, and you have to learn."
Meanwhile, Curtis also updated viewers on his romance with Maura Higgins, and revealed their relationship is still going strong since leaving the villa.
He admitted: "We’re fantastic. Things are going fantastic. I left her in bed this morning."
His loved up comments come after the star insisted although they’ve been forced to spend a lot of time apart since it wrapped two weeks ago, he’ll happily spoil her when they’re together.
He previously said: "She was tired and I knew she needed some clothes for the morning so I got up early and I ironed her clothes. I just got things ready for her."
