Sweden’s Crown Princess Victoria celebrated her name day yesterday (12.03.14).
The 36-year-old Royal celebrated the occasion at the Royal Palace Square in Stockholm, Sweden, where she was treated to a drum salute and presented with a bouquet of violet flowers while a band played a special march in honour of the first-in-line to the throne.
The princess was accompanied by her husband Prince Daniel, Duke of Västergötland and their two-year-old daughter, Princess Estelle – who behaved impeccably throughout the ceremony and was even seen dancing along to the band’s music before clapping in approval as they finished their set.
Following the celebrations and concert, Victoria – who wore a monochrome coat with long white gloves and her hair in an elegant bun – greeted members of the public who had come out to wish her a happy name day.
In Sweden, each day is associated with a certain name and although originally only martyrs and saints’ names were celebrated, more common names have been added to the calendar throughout history.
