Craig Revel Horwood is considering adopting a child after being inspired by ‘Annie’.
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ judge is portraying orphanage owner Miss Hannigan in the UK tour of the musical, and he wants to make sure his relationship with boyfriend Jonathan Myring – who he met in February 2018 – is "solid enough" for the couple to adopt.
The 54-year-old star told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre TV column: "It is something we have talked about.
"There are so many children out there just like in Annie, who are orphaned for whatever reason and they just need a loving family.
"But I am waiting to see how our relationship develops and if it’s solid enough and a good base to bring children into it. It certainly needs a lot of planning.
"You are under great scrutiny when you are adopting, more so than natural parents. There are a lot of interviews, screenings etc."
‘Annie’ – which is based on the Harold Gray comic strip ‘Little Orphan Annie’ – tells the story of a young girl who is adopted by billionaire Oliver "Daddy" Warbucks.
But Craig wasn’t talking about being a daddy himself last year.
Speaking in November, he said: "I hope Jonathan and I will get married but there won’t be any children, that’s a step too far."
However, he was looking forward to spending Christmas with Jonathan’s family surrounded by little ones.
He said at the time: "Its been 10 months since we got together and this is serious – I am about to spend Christmas in the bosom of his family down in Sussex.
"It will be very traditional with lots of children running around.
"I love it, I will even be doing some cooking. I’m very good at stuffing."
