Corrine Bailey Rae says Prince was very generous

Corinne Bailey Rae says Prince was "very generous" and "just wanted people to have a good time".
The ‘Kiss’ hitmaker – who passed away at his Paisley Park home in April from a fentanyl overdose – was one of the 37-year-old singer’s earliest supporters before she released her debut album in 2006 and taught her how to be "free" when making music.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz Corrine said: "I met Prince a few times. He came to our first ever show in the US and has always been a pretty big supporter of our music.
"He was with us in Dubai when we played the Grand Prix. His buzz was a very special buzz. He was very generous all the time.
"The biggest thing I observed from him was a sense of freedom and how important it is for artists to feel like there are no boundaries or pressures."
The ‘Put Your Record On’ hitmaker – who recently made her comeback with the record ‘The Heart Speaks In Whispers’ – also talked of what a "prolific" artist, who would do whatever he liked on stage.
She explained: "He put out 40 records in 40 years so he was obviously very prolific.
"But just the feeling that you don’t have to hold yourself and think about what other people want.
"All humans – whatever you come to do musically – someone is bound to connect with it so just that thing that he would change a set list, you can stop a song halfway through, you can do a song for 10 minutes, you can do a big improvisation or jam.
"He could play with three 25-year-old women who he just met. Or he can be on stage with 15 people.
"He will do an after show and play James Brown covers all the time. He was not just obsessed with his own fame or writing. I think he just wanted people to have a good time. He’s massively missed."
