‘Coronation Street’s Jim and Liz McDonald are set to reconcile.
The former couple – played by Charles Lawson and Beverley Callard – were married twice, from 1974 to 1997, and again from 2000 to 2005, and will be hoping it is third time lucky when they rekindle their romance in upcoming episodes of the ITV soap.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "Jim and Liz have always had chemistry and even after two failed marriages there’s still a spark there.
"They end up getting back together after a few moments just the two of them.
"But in soaps love stories never run smoothly, and it’s doubtful this will end up in marriage number three."
Jim and Liz are set to reconcile when Charles returns to the soap for the seventh wedding of their onscreen son Steve.
And he will bring a huge shock for Liz as he returns to Weatherfield with a woman he claims is their daughter Katie.
Both Liz and Jim had believed that Katie had died after being born but Jim explains to Liz that there was a mix up in the hospital and she was adopted by an Australia couple.
While Liz and Jim have been married to each other twice, they have a long way to go to reach the record held by their son Steve.
He started off his familiarity with being a groom in 1995 when he married Vicky Arden (Chloe Newsome), against the wishes of her grandfather, cobbles legend Alec Gilroy (Roy Barraclough), and Bet Lynch (Julie Goodyear).
But Steve’s first marriage was short-lived when Vicky left him just a year later and divorced him while he was in prison after he was sent down for handling hooky whisky.
Steve waited until the 00s until he popped the question again, to Karen Phillips (Suranne Jones), and he was married to her from 2001 to 2003. They later re-married in 2004 before splitting for good in 2006.
During their one-year break, Steve hopped into bed with Tracy Barlow and she went on to have their daughter Amy McDonald (Elle Mulvaney).
Steve was back on the marriage train in 2009, tying the knot with Katherine Kelly’s ‘Corrie’ character Becky Granger, but they split in 2011, and one year later he reunited with Tracy to wed her for the first time.
He was in church again in 2015 to marry Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh) and she later gave birth to their son Ruairi prematurely, but the youngster, sadly, did not survive.
Steve and Michelle split up after she discovered he had fathered a son, Oliver, with Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) following a one-night stand.
