Corrie’s Daniel Brocklebank had tan mishap on set after lockdown

Daniel Brocklebank looked like he had spent a month in Barbados after an epic tanning mishap.

The ‘Coronation Street’ star – who has played vicar Billy Mayhew on the ITV show since 2014 – admitted he has struggled with social distancing measures, which has seen the cast doing their own hair and makeup, and once went overboard with his bronzer.

Speaking to Woman’s Own magazine, he quipped: "Now I’m in charge of my own bronzer, in a scene we shot in The Rovers this morning I looked like I’d had four weeks in Barbados."

The 40-year-old actor admitted some of his co-stars have come back looking rather different after the long break in production, with filming initially halted in March due to the coronavirus pandemic.

He added: "We’ve all had a lot of time off. Some people have put on two stone, some people have lost it, some people’s hair is a different length but I’m sure viewers will understand."

Daniel had actually gone five months without being on set and he sometimes found himself "going nuts" being at home on his own.

He said: "I hadn’t been in the show since the end of February, so I’ve had five months out of work. Sometimes it was fine, other times I was going nuts.

"I had 12 weeks where I didn’t see anyone at all because I live alone. I don’t stop talking, and the conversations with myself became incredibly in-depth…

"I actually spoke to my stomach one day when it grumbled. I was like, ‘All right, I’ll feed you in a minute!’ "

Daniel previously revealed his joy at being back on set as he posted a snap of himself with co-star Alison King (Carla Connor).

He wrote: "First time I’ve been able to pop into work & the first time I’ve seen these beautiful faces in months!!!

"I’m not going to lie, I may have shed a joyful tear or two. @coronationstreet (sic)"
