Sue Cleaver would like to see more ‘Coronation Street’ characters putting the world to rights in the Rovers Return.
The 58-year-old actress – who has played Eileen Grimshaw on the cobbles since 2000 – has pondered how the ITV soap could change when filming resumes after production was halted last month due to the coronavirus pandemic.
She told Inside Soap magazine: "I absolutely love those scenes. That’s one thing that’s changed, there’s not so many of those any more and I love them.
"I think seeing characters in situ, just talking about nonsense or having a moan is great. They are the classic ‘Corrie’ scenes.
"I wonder whether, with this production gap and what’s happening, there will be more of that…"
With work currently on pause – and ‘Corrie’ airing on a reduced schedule – Sue revealed she and her cast mates have turned to FaceTime to keep in touch.
She and her husband have been part of the group with Daniel Brocklebank (Billy Mayhew), ‘Coronation Street’ floor manager Woody Wade, Julia Goudling (Shona Ramsey) and her husband.
Sue added: "When lockdown started, we just FaceTimed each other in our little group, which is Dan Brocklebank, Woody Wade, Julia Goulding and her husband Ben and me and my husband.
"After a while, we called it ‘Dan’s Bar’ and gave it a theme each time.
"Dan and Woody are isolating alone, so we just sit down and have dinner together, or a pub quiz and catch-up.
"We’ve also started to welcome surprise guests like Sally-Anne Matthews (Jenny). A theme coming up is ‘Dan’s Bar: Eileen,’ so everyone has to dress up as Eileen."
