Coronation Street’s Simon Barlow will end up in handcuffs next week after he’s arrested for the brutal attack on pensioner Flora McArdle.
The nasty school boy – played by Alex Bain – has been playing with fire for too long and it looks like he’s finally set to get his comeuppance after he’s thrown behind bars when he gets caught up in a twisted burglary that leaves the OAP fighting for her life.
Simon and his friend Tyler Jefferies come up with a plan to raid Flora’s home after they learn that her son Vinny Ashford (Ian Kelsey) has left her £250,000 in his will.
The conniving duo decide to break in to Daniel Osborne’s (Rob Mallard) Corner Shop flat, while Flora is out celebrating her inheritance at the Bistro and snatch the cash.
But their plan is tossed into jeopardy when Flora returns home earlier than expected and Tyler launches a jewellery box at her, knocking her unconscious.
While Tyler runs out of the flat, Simon stays with Flora and calls for help but his good deed lands him in cuffs as he’s arrested on suspicion of burglary.
As the police grill him on his behaviour, Simon cracks and admits that Tyler and his gang have been leading him astray and forcing him down a path of crime.
He also owned up to another robbery at the cafe but his honesty lands him in trouble with Tyler and the school boy tracks him down and threatens him for grassing on him.
While Simon’s life is potentially in danger, it’s yet to be seen whether Flora (Eileen Davies) survives the brutal and bloody attack.
