Coronation Street’s Chesney Brown is to become a father to quadruplets.
The kebab shop worker – played by Sam Aston – is to impregnate Gemma Winter (Dolly-Rose Campbell), and during her scan the Rovers Return barmaid will find out she is expecting four kids.
A ‘Corrie’ source said: "The show’s new boss, Iain MacLeod, is keen to inject a bit of old-fashioned humour into ‘Coronation Street’ like in the years gone by and this storyline will have viewers in stitches."
While the audience may be chuckling, Gemma will be doing some sums as she tries to work out how the quads can leave her quids in.
The source told The Sun’s Bizarre TV column: "Gemma doesn’t miss a trick and instantly thinks of ways she can make some dosh out of her and Chesney’s unexpected news."
But Gemma’s landlady Rita Tanner (Barbara Knox) is set to chuck the pair out of her home for being at it "like rabbits".
Chesney already has one kid, son Joseph, with his ex Katy Armstrong (Georgia May Foote).
But Georgia will not be back on the soap as the character was killed off in a car crash off-screen in 2017.
Chesney has had a thing for Gemma for a while. He finally plucked up the courage to ask her out on a date back in October – but she mistakenly thought he meant as friends, so he was shocked when the bubbly barmaid rocks up for their evening out with her 6ft 4inch pal Spike.
But fortunately for Ches, Emma Brooker (Alexandra Mardell) pretended to accompany him on the evening, and Sam admitted the pair couldn’t stop laughing while shooting the scene.
He said: "It was great fun because it’s nice to do it all and have a go at the different storylines. When you get the giggles it’s really hard to shake them off because it becomes this big thing but you just need to let it out.
"Alexandra is really cool. She plays this fun, bubbly character and she is a very nice girl in real life. We get on really well."
