‘Coronation Street’s Rhea Bailey has teased her possessive character Caz Hammond has a "bumpy" road ahead.
The 32-year-old actress has warned that the British Army officer will turn bitter and nasty towards her fiancée Kate Connor (Faye Brooks) after she catches her love talking to Maria (Samia Ghadie).
Speaking on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’ on Monday (13.06.16) she said: "She is really interesting. She is holding on so tightly I’m worried she might suffocate [Kate]… I feel like ‘Coronation Street’ have sent me here to warn you, it’s going to get worse. I apologise on the writer’s behalf. It’s not my fault. Just brace yourself, it’s going to get bumpy."
But Rhea has enjoyed delving into "troubled" Caz’ mental state and getting to the bottom of her possessive nature.
She said: "Everything she says is kind of a lie. She’s really troubled; deeply. So you have to find that, and you have to find it without judging her. You have to find why she’s being like this, why she’s so insecure. I’m finding it really interesting from a psychological point of view."
Meanwhile, the actress – whose sister is the chart topper Corrine Bailey Rae – never expected to find herself working on the Cobbles full time but is enjoying being back after a few years living in Los Angeles.
The former ‘The Bill’ star said: "I came home for my mum’s birthday and they said, ‘Do you want to do a couple of episodes on ‘Corrie’?’ and I was like, ‘Yeah, I’d love to’. Then they said, ‘Do you want to do a couple more’… then they said ‘We’d really like you to stick around’. So I’ve had to move all my stuff back from California!"
