Coronation Street’s Alison King for Best Actress at British Soap Awards 2016

‘Coronation Street’s Alison King is in the running to scoop Best Actress at this year’s British Soap Awards.
The 43-year-old actress is set to bow out of the soap later this month after portraying Carla Connor on the cobbles for the last 10 years, and she certainly looks set to go out with a bang as she’s been nominated to nab the hot prize at the forthcoming ceremony.
However, the brunette beauty will have to fight off some stiff competition if she has any chance of bagging the trophy as she’s up against EastEnders’ Lacey Turner (Stacey Branning) and Rakhee Thakrar (Shabnam Masood).
‘Emmerdale’ star Lucy Parteger (Chas Dingle) and Hollyoaks’ Jennifer Metcalfe (Mercedes McQueen) have also managed to crawl their way into the hot category.
And it’s not just the ladies hoping to scoop accolades at the glitzy ceremony as EastEnders’ Danny Dyer, who plays loveable rogue Mick Carter, is nominated for the Best Actor gong alongside ‘Coronation Street’ actor Jack P Shepherd (David Platt), ‘Hollyoaks’ stars Charlie Clapham (Freddie Roscoe) and Kieron Richardson (Ste Hay), and ‘Emmerdale’s Danny Miller (Aaron Livesy).
‘Coronation Street’s Shayne Ward, who plays factory hunk Aidan Connor, is up for Best Newcomer, while ‘Emmerdale’s Matthew Wolfenden (David Metcalfe) is up for Best Comedy Performance alongside EastEnders’ Tameka Empson, who portrays ditzy Kim Fox-Hubbard, in the same category.
