‘Coronation Street’ will pay tribute to Sinead Tinker over New Year.
The soap is set to honour Katie McGlynn’s character after she was killed off following a heartbreaking cancer battle, and they are continuing to focus on Daniel Osbourne’s (Rob Mallard) grief after his wife passed away.
His family rally around him and son Bertie as they get ready to ring in 2020, and while they’re all spending New Year’s Eve together they raise a touching toast to Sinead.
Katie previously admitted playing a cancer victim has really made her "appreciate the small things in life".
After her character’s death last month, she wrote on Twitter: "Sinead feeling the rain for the last time has really made me appreciate the small things in life that we all take for granted
"Your beautiful messages mean everything..I wouldn’t be able to watch Sinead’s final days if it wasn’t for the support of every single one of you ..I’m going to miss Sinead Tinker so much, but I am so humbled to hear we’re doing this storyline justice (sic)"
Katie also admitted it has been a "privilege" to have played out the cervical cancer story, and she feels "relieved" to have taken on the plot.
She said: "I felt like we have a privilege having a platform like Coronation Street to portray real life.
"People are dying from cancer, life isn’t a fairytale, if we hadn’t of gone all the way through, it wouldn’t have made as much of an impact.
"I’m so relieved we’ve done this storyline."
Meanwhile, it’s been revealed Daniel will play a bit part in how Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) leaves the show next year, after the two shared a kiss just days before Sinead’s death.
Cobbles boss Iain MacLeod hinted: "I think we’ve cracked what’s a really interesting grief story, which isn’t just Daniel sitting in his flat feeling really lonely.
"That’s going to be quite big at the start of the year and ultimately form part of Lucy Fallon’s exit story, without saying too much more about it than that."
