Coronation Street cast help write scripts

The ‘Coronation Street’ cast help the scriptwriters come up with exciting new storylines.
Faye Brookes – who is known for playing Kate Connor in the long-running soap – has admitted she and her co-stars regularly inspire the writers on the show because they can’t resist discussing potential outcomes for their characters behind the scenes.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz at the TV Choice Awards in London on Monday (05.09.16), she explained: "We talk about ideas and then they grow and then suddenly the writers have been inspired and you see it in the next script. The writers are amazing."
And, although the amount of time they have to learn their lines vary from day-to-day, Catherine Tyldesley – who plays busty knicker-stitcher Eva Price – believes her short term memory has improved a staggering amount since she joined the show in 2011.
She said: "You get faster, it’s like brain training. When I first started, I really struggled with it. It’s a completely different way of working to theatre. You do miss the rehearsal process sometimes. It’s a well oiled machine and it works. I think that improves your skills."
Meanwhile, the show has plenty of gritty storylines coming up over the next few months – including a huge explosion which will wipe through Weatherfield and claim the life of a well-loved character – but Catherine believes the new producer Kate Oates has given the cast a new "energy" on set and put the excitement back into the soap.
She said: "Our new producer Kate is unbelievable. Since she’s come in as a producer, there’s such an excitement around the set. She’s just brought this whole new energy."
