Conor Maynard praises Ed Sheeran

Conor Maynard has backed Ed Sheeran as Glastonbury 2017 headliner.
The ‘Shape of You’ hitmaker was announced to be closing this year’s event on June 25 to a mixed reception, but Conor thinks he’s the right man for the job as he could top the bill at any festival "in the whole world".
Asked if it was right for Ed to headline Glastonbury, Conor told BANG Showbiz: "I think so, how many times did he sell out Wembley [Stadium]? Like three times. He can headline any festival in the whole world. He could do his own festival, the Ed Sheeran Festival, that should be the next move for Ed Sheeran."
Ed – who has just returned to music following a 12-month hiatus – recently scored an impressive nine out of the top 10 UK singles, and broke sales records with his third LP ‘Divide’.
However, Conor doesn’t think the flame-haired star is at risk of people becoming tired of him just yet.
He said: "It’s better to be everywhere when your album’s out. He seems very smart – he’s got his head screwed on I don’t think anything can go wrong."
Conor, 24, recently teamed up with The Vamps to record a remake of ‘Shape of You’ and the video went viral on social media.
When asked if he knew whether Ed had watched the video, Connor said: " He got tweeted it so many times that I’m pretty sure he’s seen it. If not hopefully he does one day.
"I haven’t seen Ed for a few years, in Toronto we did a show together and he was such a nice guy, he came into the dressing room and we were just chilling for a while before we went on stage."
Speaking about his own music, Conor explained how he’s been busy in the studio laying down tracks.
He added: "I’m still working on that [my own stuff]. I’m in the studio pretty much every day trying to finish off my original material. I’m going to release as much of it as possible this year, go through a few different things and see what works."
