Connie Hyde hopes Gina Seddon and Sally Metcalfe can mend their sisterly bond.
The ‘Coronation Street’ star has opened up about the awkward love triangle sparked when her alter ego falls for brother-in-law Tim (Joe Duttine) while Sally (Sally Dynevor) is in prison.
Speaking to Inside Soap, Connie said: "I love Sally so much – we’re best friends. So we both went, ‘Oh no!’
"Actually though, the way it’s been done is clever. It’s not been Machiavellian, which was my fear at first, but it’s been the opposite of that and the story will run for a long time.
"There’s been different peaks and it’s very subtle, so I’m pleased with it. We were just worried that it would affect our relationship as sisters, but actually there’s something that happens down the line that will rectify that."
However, despite wanting the on-screen siblings to mend their relationship, Connie, 49, admitted she enjoys when they bicker.
She added: "I love those scenes. What I enjoy about that dynamic is that they were brought up in the gutter, so Gina has seen Sally as a real foul-mouthed scally.
"And Gina likes to make fun of the fact that she’s now all posh, and remind her where she came from. That’s something that no-one else knows about Sally."
While Connie enjoys the scenes, soap star Sally, 55, previously explained why she doesn’t enjoy watching herself on screen.
told BANG Showbiz: "I was 23 when I started, so to watch yourself getting older …
"But all the different range of characters that have come and gone from ‘Corrie’. Jean Alexander was one of my first scenes on Corrie and it’s changed so much, but it’s changed with the times.
"It’s got more modern and we’ve got a wonderful cast at the moment. We’ve got a mixture of older and younger and it all works really, really well."
