Christina Grimmie’s killer reportedly had a history of violence.
The 22-year-old singer – who found fame on ‘The Voice USA’ – was gunned down by Kevin James Loibl during a meet-and-greet session after a show in Orlando, Florida, on Friday (10.06.16) and he is alleged to have been involved in a number of violent incidents in the past.
TMZ reports that police were called to two incidents involving Loibl, 27, over the past few years, including an altercation with his father’s fiancée in which she claimed he broke her wrist by slamming a door on her arm.
He claimed it was an accident and no charges were brought.
Police were also reportedly called to an altercation between Loibl and his father in 2014 but, again, no arrests were made.
It is believed that Kevin travelled from his home in St. Petersburg, Florida, to the gig in Orlando with the intention of killing the Christina and he was reportedly planning to go home afterwards.
However, after Christina’s brother Marcus tackled him, he turned the gun on himself and died at the scene.
Marcus later posted a tribute to his sister on Facebook, writing: "Christina was more than my sister. She was a partner in life. A superstar. A goofball. Introverted. And a friend to everyone. Genuinely. But above all…she was my baby sister. She loved the Lord and her family and was always there for me and I honestly don’t know what I’ll do without her.
"The support has been crazy and I do feel a peace. I just don’t have any words. I love you all."
Christina – who appeared on season six of ‘The Voice USA’ – first found fame as a teenager for her renditions of hit songs, which led to her developing a huge following on YouTube.
She released her debut recording ‘Find Me’ in 2011, while the singer’s second EP – ‘Side A’ – was released earlier this year.
