Christina Aguilera took a decade off from touring to be with her family.
The ‘Genie in a Bottle’ singer has returned to the stage for her ‘Liberation’ tour but wanted to take time out from touring life to be with her son Max Liron, 10, and her daughter Summer Rain, four.
Speaking to the crowd at her show in Miami, Florida on Tuesday night (25.09.18), she said: "Being a mom is really important to me and I’m a very hands-on mom. I never want them to feel that they live in my shadow or that they are not important. I don’t wanna be that kind of mom, so I took some time off for them. But momma needs to go back to what she’s meant to do."
And Max may one day join his mother on stage.
Speaking about his "incredible voice", she shared: "Summer and I stick to our Disney songs together, BUT, my son Max actually has an incredible voice – he doesn’t showcase it a lot – but I caught him singing Maria the other day, and he was pitch perfect. He definitely has talent there if he ever wants to do anything w/ it #xtinaQA (sic)"
However, Christina’s daughter isn’t a fan of her singing.
She shared: "When I’m doing my vocal warm-ups, she slams the door and goes, ‘You’re interrupting Peppa Pig!’ It’s hilarious … The last time I was on tour, I was pregnant with my son onstage, so I was about to give birth. At a certain point I had to stop touring for safety reasons. You get to a certain point [where] you have to stop. Ever since then I was like, ‘How do people do this with kids and touring?’ But, you know, it’s time for mama to get back to what I was born to do."
