Christie Whelan Browne pregnant with first child

Christie Whelan Browne is pregnant with her first child.

The former ‘Neighbours’ star – who joined the soap as Scarlett Brady last year from September until the end of October – has revealed she and her husband Rohan Browne are expecting their first baby together, and she described the pregnancy as a "miracle".

Alongside a series of snaps of her husband posing with her growing bump, she wrote: "A miracle happened. We have never been so happy. Happy Hump/Bump Day. (sic)"

The 38-year-old actress previously had three unsuccessful rounds of IVF, and her happy news was met with kind messages from her fellow stars.

Singer Kate Miller-Heidke commented: "OMG yay! So happy for you all xxx (sic)"

Actress Rebecca Gibney wrote: "OMG!! That’s fantastic!! Congratulations (sic)

And comedian Julia Morris added: "The yummiest parents ever… congratulations lovelies! (sic)"

Rohan also shared the exciting news on his own Instagram account, and confirmed the couple are expecting a baby boy.

Alongside a black and white photo of himself kissing Christie’s belly, he wrote: "In a time and world fraught with anxiety, uncertainty and doubt, we are overjoyed with some very good news. A little baby boy."

Last month, Christie – who was diagnosed with endometriosis, which can cause infertility, 10 years ago – opened up about her struggles and the financial implication of three unsuccessful rounds of IVF.

She said: "It’s a heartbreaking and emotional kick when [IVF] doesn’t work, but also a financial kick… [Infertility] makes you question your womanhood and it’s very hard to remove."

Actress Christie joined ‘Neighbours’ for a relatively short stint last year, and she announced her role by hitting back at an immigration officer who had previously scoffed at her because she hadn’t been on the show.

She wrote on Instagram: "Once when I went through Customs the Immigration Officer looked at my form and said ‘Actress, huh?’ with a raised brow. ‘Yep’.

"’Oh really? *scoff* You ever been on @neighbours ?’ ‘…No’ ‘Hahahahaha, yeah no, see all actors in Australia have been on Neighbours’.

"Well suck on this, Graham. Coming to your screens Sept 2019. (sic)"
