Chris Ramsey has been told to wear "Y-fronts" on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’.
The 33-year-old comedian revealed despite referencing both Tesco and David Beckham branded boxer shorts in his stand-up set, he has been given some underwear tips from the pros who recommend briefs as a better option for the BBC’s Latin and ballroom competition.
He told the Metro newspaper: "Let me have a quick look at what I’m wearing now — oh, it’s a knackered pair of old David Beckhams, so I might wear them.
"But the pros have been telling me I should switch to Y-fronts — apparently they’re a lot better when it comes to movement. There’s an insider dance tip for you!"
Chris – who has been paired with dancer Karen Hauer for the upcoming series – also surprised the team behind the scenes when they assumed his "holiday tan" was fake, and he explained as long as he gets in good shape he’ll happily do whatever they ask of him.
He said: "It’s funny, I turned up to rehearsals and they said, ‘Oh, you’ve got fake tan already’ and I said, ‘No, this is my holiday tan, it’s real!’
"I don’t think they’d seen that before. Listen, if they get me in shape I’ll dance in my Y-fronts, I’ll dance around naked — it’s part of the spectacle."
Meanwhile, the comic admitted he’s already having to incorporate ‘Strictly’ into his set before the show has properly got underway.
He added: "I get material from everything so there’s already stuff from ‘Strictly’. If I didn’t talk about ‘Strictly’ on stage, it would be the elephant in the room."
Last month, he referenced the competition at the end of his set at last month’s Leeds Festival as he addressed the audience and quipped: "Don’t forget to vote for me on ‘Strictly’ because I’m a f***ing s**t dancer!"
