Chris Gascoyne to return to Coronation Street

Chris Gascoyne is set to return to ‘Coronation Street’.
The 48-year-old actor is to reprise his role as recovering alcoholic Peter Barlow in the long-running ITV show as the programme’s new boss Kate Oates wants to create a major storyline involving one of the cobbles’ oldest family.
She said: "One of the things I am most excited about and something I consider a real privilege is that I am lucky enough to work on the longest-running soap. One of the longest-running families on that soap is the Barlows and why would you not want to strengthen that family?"
And Peter won’t be the only one rocking up in Weatherfield later this year as Adam Barlow and Ken Barlow’s (Bill Roache) son Daniel will also make an appearance, although the castings for the newcomers are yet to be announced.
She explained: "I love the idea of Ken as the head of the family which has Tracy (Kate Ford), Simon (Alex Bain) and Amy (Elle Mulvaney) here currently. I am excited to bring Peter back to the show. I am delighted to meet Daniel Osborne, who is Ken’s child and I am excited to bring back Adam, who is Ken’s grandson. I think that strong family dynasty – the first family on the soap, as it were – here, big, strong and sending ripples through the street, is really exciting and I am really looking forward to seeing that."
Meanwhile, Chris bowed out of the soap in 2014 but made a brief return last year for his character’s step-mother Deirdre’s funeral.
