Chris Gascoyne would’ve been a milkman if he wasn’t an actor.
The ‘Coronation Street’ star – who has played Peter Barlow on the cobbles for the last 19 years – believes he would’ve had a life delivering milk for a living to follow in the footsteps of his father, if he hadn’t embarked on a career on the small screen.
He said: "My dad was a milkman so I would probably be a milkman.
"There’s not many left now though."
One thing Chris wouldn’t have been is a reality TV star – as the 51-year-old actor admits he has turned down numerous offers to appear in several shows over the years, including ‘Celebrity Shark Bait’.
He said: "I like watching them but I’d be terrible at them. I did get offered a long time ago but then they stopped bothering.
"The best one that I had was ‘Celebrity Shark Bait’. They put you down in a Perspex cage with Great White Sharks. I was like, ‘No, you’re alright.’ And the other one was ‘Celebrity SAS’. They asked me, ‘Are you tough enough?’ And I was like, ‘No I’m not.’ "
And Chris admits he doesn’t want to see a slice of turkey for a long time after filming Corrie’s Christmas episodes ahead of the real-life festive period beginning.
Speaking on Yorkshire Coast Radio, he added: "We’re two months ahead. You genuinely forget where you are. Christmas has been and gone in ‘Coronation Street’. We’ve done new year. It’s really strange.
"And of course, all in the shops Christmas is just starting. It seems to be that Christmas goes on for an awful long time.
"I don’t want to look at another piece of turkey again."
