Tom Allen has joined ‘Children In Need’.
The 36-year-old comedian will be part of the hosting team for this year’s edition of the charity telethon, which is set to air on November 15 across BBC One and Two.
He said: "Oh a huge honour. It’s a terrific night of telly raising money for an awesome cause.
"I’m just grateful to Marvin and Rochelle [Humes] for having me on the team and I promise not to mess around."
He is delighted to be joining the likes of Graham Norton, Tess Daly, Ade Adepitan and Mel Giedroyc to support a worthy cause.
He added: "It is a great cause but what makes ‘Children In Need’ special is it brings everyone together around the country.
"There’s a real connection between the people in the studio and the people watching at home – no matter where you are it’s everyone coming together to do something positive for young people everywhere."
And Mel revealed she’s excited to be reunited with Graham and the rest of the team again, even if they don’t all get much time together during the actual broadcast.
She said: "I can’t wait to be onstage with Graham once again. He is the BEST fun to work with. In fact he doesn’t make it feel like work at all.
"It’ll be lovely to see the whole gang, actually. We’re all a bit like ships in the night, on the night, but we usually get to hang all together for a few minutes behind the scenery in the studio before it all kicks off, and have a slightly hysterical, whispered chinwag."
And she is excited to see what the ‘EastEnders’ cast come up with this year after delighting viewers with their musical antics in the past.
She gushed: "I’ve always enjoyed the ‘EastEnders’ musical numbers, so I can’t wait to see what moves they’ve got in store in the ‘Strictly’ special this year."
‘Children In Need’ airs on the BBC on November 15, and last year’s edition of the telethon raised £50.6 million to help disadvantaged children and young people in the UK.
