Children in Need Rocks concert in memory of Sir Terry Wogan

Children In Need are to stage a special concert in honour of Sir Terry Wogan.
A number of artists including Take That, Ellie Goulding, Olly Murs, Gregory Porter, Michael Ball, Alfie Boe, Rick Astley, Alexander Armstrong, The Vamps and Ward Thomas will take to the stage at London’s Royal Albert Hall on November 1 to pay tribute to the late broadcaster, and the charity’s life president, following his death from cancer in January.
Fearne Cotton and Greg James will host the evening of entertainment and are delighted to be involved.
Speaking about the concert, Fearne said: "It has been an honour working with Sir Terry across the years on Children in Need and it’s a privilege to be hosting Rocks in celebration of his life. It’s going to be a very special evening with some great artists performing some of his favourite tracks."
Greg added: "It’s a privilege to host Rocks alongside Fearne. Sir Terry was, in my eyes, the ultimate broadcaster. A friend to millions on his radio show and a hero to millions more through his work with Children in Need. It’s an absolute honour to be asked to be part of the concert. It’s going to be a brilliant night."
As well as the musical performances – which will be accompanied by the BBC Concert Orchestra, the Crouch End Festival Chorus and the Brighouse and Rastrick Band – the evening will include archive depicting Terry’s incredible radio and television career, including a chance to relive one of the ‘Radio 2 Janet and John’ stories, which he told on his Radio 2 Breakfast Show. This will be accompanied with special illustrations created by Tony Ross.
Appeal films telling the stories of the children and young people supported by the charity will be also be played across the evening.
Tickets for Children In Need Rocks – which will raise money for the charity – are available from www.bbc.co.uk/pudsey.
The concert is to be broadcast on BBC One during the week of the annual BBC Children in Need Appeal. It will also be broadcast on BBC Radio 2.
